Friday:
7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.  -  Registration and Coffee/Bagels

8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  -  Joni Stacy is an Omaha attorney with Sena, Polk & Stacy, Law Partners. She has been in private practice for over 20 years, specializing in family law and estate planning. She is a former PFLAG National Board Member. PFLAG is the oldest national organization of straight allies working with LGBTQ people to move equality forward. Joni is also a member of PTRN (the Professional Transgender Resource Network) which is an interdisciplinary group of Omaha professionals working towards education and equality for the transgender community. The presentation will help you become more culturally competent with the topics of sex, gender, and bias. Joni has presented to educate and raise awareness of sex, gender, and bias issues for thousands around the Midwest and across the country, including regional and national conferences, corporations, teachers and administrators, law enforcement personnel, community service providers, faith communities, mental health professionals, lawyers and court personnel, nurses, physicians, medical students, in college classrooms, and to middle school and high school students. The first step in improving culture is to become educated in the basics and to create a common language from which more work can be done.

10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.  -  Judge William Zastera is a retired Sarpy County District Court judge.  He will share with us the The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Adult Drug Court. He started the first drug court in Papillion, Nebraska.  He will tell us about the history and need for adult drug court and his own personal struggle with alcohol.

1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. -  Lori Atkinson, The Kim Foundation's, A Voice for Hope & Healing presentation offers information, support, and hope to the community.  It helps to build awareness around mental health and suicide prevention.  The presentation will share facts about mental health, will review the most common mental illnesses, as well as provide coping strategies to stay mentally healthy.  The presentation will also focus on suicide prevention and will include warning signs to watch for in individuals, will discuss how to have the conversation with someone who is suicidal, and will share local/national resources that can connect someone to help.  We hope you will join us for this important and informative presentation.

3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  - Steve Clark - NCRA Update - Yolanda will provide an update on current NCRA issues of importance to all reporters.  Included as part of the TakeNote Campaign, NCRA has tools to help individual reporters and state associations recruit students into stenographic reporting.  You will learn about these tools and the ways you can use them to make presentations to schools, other associations, groups, judges, and attorneys.

8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. - Deputy Jay Wingler
, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, will provide a presentation on "Personal Protection Measures (PPM)" and "Basic Weapon Handling and Safety."  Deputy Wingler, a 39-year law enforcement veteran, has specialized experience in anti-terrorism firearms, court security, and crime prevention.  PPM is designed to enhance awareness and best practices for home, travel, and workplace protection by the individual.  The firearms portion will address the security issues associated with various weapons introduced as evidence during legal proceedings and trials.

10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - Steve Clark, our NCRA representative, will speak on motivation. Motivation is one of the strong components of success, and knowing how to keep yourself inspired is vital to ensuring the health of your career.  Learn how to measure the impact motivation has on your business.  Also, learn how to rekindle the spark to deliver the best service possible to your clients as well as potential clients.
